The boiler is the largest CFB-boiler (Circulating Fluidised-Bed Boiler) in the world and was supplied with an output of 550 MWth. The furnace of the boiler measures 8.5 metres x 24 metres and is 40 metres high. It was supplied by Kvaerner Pulping Oy.
The steam data are high (165 bar / 545°C) compared to the normal parameters for bio-fuel boilers and increase the efficiency of the plant. There are also re-heating and rotating air pre-heaters to provide high values while steam-cooled cyclones represent the latest technology.
